Ok so here's the deal. I was out to the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek Michigan with my family a couple years ago. We were back on the Swamp Adventure area. We've noticed all kinds of different wildlife out there during our many visits everything from snakes, salamanders, squirrels and chipmunks to cranes and hawks. This time we saw this crazy bug about the size of a crane-fly (aka a mosquito eater). It flew through the air and on the tips of its wings or legs or whatever it looked like flashing lights. I don't know maybe it was some sort of dragonfly... all I know is it was the coolest bug I've ever seen.
If only I had thought of my camera phone at the time. So anyway here is an impressionistic image that approximates what it was like.

I've looked through several insect identification sites but can't seem to figure out what it is. I was hoping that if I knew what it was and more about it I could find one again some day maybe even catch it on film.
Anyone have a clue what it could have been?

Life is good, God is great, and I'm going crazy. But I'll survive, I always do.
